Control of common weeds in Wisconsin soybean cropping systems with pre‐emergence herbicides

چکیده

The integration of pre-emergence (PRE) herbicides is an important component sustainable long-term weed management programs in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]. objective this study was to evaluate the efficacy 11 PRE on residual control soybean. Field experiments were conducted 2018 and 2019 at Arlington Lancaster, WI. Herbicide treatments consisted imazethapyr, chlorimuron-ethyl, cloransulam-methyl (acetolactate synthase [ALS] inhibitors), metribuzin (photosystem II [PSII] inhibitor), sulfentrazone, flumioxazin, saflufenacil (protoporphyrinogen oxidase [PPO] acetochlor, S-metolachlor, dimethenamid-P, pyroxasulfone (very long-chain fatty acid [VLCFA] a nontreated control. Predominant species included common lambsquarters, [Chenopodium album (L.)], purslane [Portulaca oleracea ragweed [Ambrosia artemisiifolia giant foxtail (Setaria faberi Herrm.), waterhemp [Amaranthus tuberculatus (Moq.) J.D. Sauer], yellow [Setaria pumila (Poir.) Roem. & Schult.]. Visual assessed by biomass across 65 days after treatment (DAT). herbicide varied site-years due different present each site. ALS inhibitors controlled lambsquarters ≥95% DAT Lancaster but <50% 2019. PPO >90% VLCFA purslane, species, ≥70% ≤30% Results showcase importance knowing composition seedbank within field; can assist growers crop advisers with selection appropriate effective herbicide(s) that matches individual field.

Efficacy of Preemergence and Postemergence Herbicides for Controlling Common Purslane

Common purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) can be problematic in thin turf, along sidewalks and drives, and especially during turfgrass establishment. Little published research exists evaluating herbicides that will control purslane and are also labeled for turfgrass. Thus, our objective was to evaluate the efficacy of preemergence (PRE) or postemergence (POST) herbicides labeled for use in turf f...

Field and greenhouse experiments were conducted during 2005 and 2006 at Stoneville, MS, to determine control of ragweed parthenium with several preemergence (PRE) and postemergence (POST) herbicides registered for use in corn, cotton, peanut, rice, and soybean. Norflurazon, pendimethalin, clomazone, diuron, fluometuron, pyrithiobac, dimethenamid, flumetsulam, imazaquin, s-metolachlor, metribuzi...

Interaction of fensulfothion and phorate with preemergence herbicides on soybean parasitic nematodes.

The herbicides alachlor, linuron, vernolate, and metribuzin were applied to plots treated with the nematicide fensulfothion or the insecticide phorate and planted to soybean in two locations in North Carolina. In 1976 treatment with fensulfothion + alachlor or vernolate, phorate + alachlor or metribuzin resulted in greater nematode population densities than no treatment, or treatment with fensu...

Evaluation of broadleaf weeds control with some post-emergence herbicides in maize (Zea mays L.) in Iran

Registered dose of herbicides may be higher than rate required for controlling weed species depending on growth stages. In order to study the effect of individual post-emergence application of 2,4-D plus MCPA and three sulfonylurea herbicides at four- to six-true leaf stage of weeds, experiments were conducted in 2011 at the greenhouse of Agricultural Faculty of Ferdowsi University of Mashh...

Yield losses of soybean and maize by competition with interseeded cover crops and weeds in organic-based cropping systems

Weed management is a major issue in organic farming systems. Although interseeding cover crops is one alternative to herbicides, cover crops often suppress not only weeds but also main crops. Therefore, using cover crops for weed control without adverse effects on main crop growth is important. To verify the effect of cover crops on competition between main crops, cover crops and weeds in snowy...
